Certifications

Earlier in my career, I noticed that I had to prove my office skills over and over again when I started new jobs or new positions. In an effort to prove my ability to hit the ground running, I searched for certifications that showed my knowledge.

Certified Administrative Professional (CAP)

Certified by the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP), the CAP designation signifies excellence in six business domains including:

  1. Organizational Communications
  2. Business Writing and Document Production
  3. Technology and Information Distribution
  4. Office and Records Management
  5. Event and Project Management
  6. Operational Functions

Certification is awarded after taking a 300 question exam and is often equated to the culmination of a 2-year associate’s degree.
